The Life and Accomplishments of Arnold Mudau
Arnold Mudau is a South African actor, producer, director, writer, and activist. He has built an impressive body of work that spans over three decades and has earned numerous awards including the Golden Globe, Emmy Award, and South African Film & Television Award (SAFTA). Mudau is known for his powerful performances in films such as Black Panther, The Colour Purple, Coming 2 America, and many others. Mudau was born in Johannesburg in 1965. His parents were both active members of the anti-apartheid movement. He attended the Wits University School of Arts for two years before joining several theater companies around South Africa. It was during this time that he began to hone his skills as an actor. After completing his studies in 1988 he landed his first role in a feature film called “The Colour Purple” which was directed by Steven Spielberg. This was followed by roles in several other films including “Coming 2 America” and “Black Panther”.
Mudau has appeared in over 20 films throughout his career including “Blood Diamond”, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”, “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and many more. He has also starred in television series such as “The West Wing” and “ER” as well as numerous made-for-TV movies such as “Reign Over Me” and “The Last King of Scotland”. He has also appeared on stage with productions such as Othello: A Modern Perspective at London’s National Theatre.
